Research of the Chair of Pathological Anatomy


Our current focus

The key words of pathology research group led by Ave Minajeva are digital pathology, whole slide imaging (WSI), machine learning (ML), neoplastic stromal biomarkers.
Basic and translational research in last 5 years comprises WSI and ML digital analysis and software development. A team led by Georgi Džaparidze has developed an open code program Pathadin. The source code, slicing, and training pipelines, as well as trained models and instructions to help anyone willing to contribute to computer-assisted diagnostics are provided at the open repository. 

Pathadin - open-source tool for WSI-oriented analysis and creating machine learning applications.


Main grants

In recent years as a reasearcher in study of brain tumors (Ave Minajeva) in the grant IUT2-4 Novel diagnostic markers of nervous system diseases and factors predicting treatment outcome (Toomas Asser, University of Tartu, Institute of Clinical Medicine).

Department of Pathological aAnatomy is introducing digital pathology in Estonia both in clinical diagnostics and in education.

Call for abstracts: scientific conference celebrating the anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine

 Tartu Ülikooli bio- ja siirdemeditsiini instituudi inimese geneetika õppetooli uuring koostöös Tartu Ülikooli Kliinikumi meestekliinikuga näitas, et üllatavalt suurel osal viljatutest meestest on lapsena diagnoositud munandi laskumishäire. Õigeaegne sekkumine aitab tulevikus lahendada viljatusprobleeme ja ennetada haruldaste kasvajate riski.
