You are welcomed to the guest seminar by Ibane Abasolo Olaortua (PhD), Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red, Bioingeniería, Biomateriales y Nanomedicina (CIBER-BBN), Instituto De Salud Carlos III, Spain) „Protein delivery in lysosomal storage disorders“.
Lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) are a group of rare genetic diseases caused by impaired lysosomal function. Current treatments using recombinant proteins face significant challenges in delivering functional proteins to difficult-to-access organs like the brain and bones. Over the years, we have developed and studied innovative delivery vehicles, such as liposomes and extracellular vesicles, capable of transporting functional recombinant proteins, with some successfully reaching the brain.
